Bought this in July 2008 from a very nice couple in West Vancouver, it had belonged to her dad who had been the original purchaser in/near Toronto. The couple were having their house renovated and were in a space squeeze so I picked this up for $25. Came with a manual and a couple of original wrenches. It was in nice shape with only a couple small problems. On a very nice skookum stand with the original thick hardboard table. My first RAS, I did a quick clean and pressed it into immediate service, only needed to address one issue.

The height adjustment mechanism was not working as purchased, and the seller did advise me of this. I disassembled it and discovered that a previous repair on the main sleeve (P/N 22-626) over the Acme rod used to adjust the height had failed. I had to cast a new part out of JB Weld using the rod itself as the mold. It worked well, liberal use of WD-40 on the Acme rod before casting allowed the part to come free after setting.

The unit has two auxiliary spindles at the opposite end of the saw head from the saw spindle. Unfortunately these did not work either and when I disassembled I discovered that somewhere along the way the main shaft had been replaced, apparently with a shorter shaft. Basically it is not long enough and won't engage the gears that turn the auxiliary spindles. I know that Eaton's also marketed an identical saw that did not have the extra spindles on it, I suspect that a shaft from one of these was used. For the price I paid, I just closed it up and am still very happy.

It came mounted on a TECOMASTER table. Apparently TECO = T. Eaton CO, a Canadian department store which finally went under sometime around 2000 after 100+ years. There is some Tecomaster arn listed on the MS, checking there led me to the connection with Powr-Kraft, a line of the American department store Montgomery Ward. There is dirty paper on the MS for an identical Powr-Kraft saw. The original price in the Eaton's Spring Summer 1965 catalogue was $239.95. Edgerite was an Eaton's brand.

Update: Oct 2008. I gave this saw away this past weekend to a friend of my dad's. It was just taking up too much space and I never used it.
