Aloha,
This is my mortiser, in my shop, and it was already on the island of Maui. The "C" stands for the belt driven variety of this model. This one is no spring chicken. I bought it from my friend Gilley few years back, he had 2 of these and now he has one. The story goes both machines were at Kahului Trucking Company sister company to HC&S sugar company here on Maui. As you can see I did not paint it yet. She has a leather flat belt w/ alligator type splice. I like the sound of the belt and the rhythmic tick of the splice when she is running. I think the motor was added sometime later. I added the speed handles to allow wrench free adjustments and the cabinet for the hollow chisels and accessories. There was a sort of old funky cabinet/ belt guard in the same place when I got the machine. It takes up to a 3/4" chisel and this baby has done a lot of jobs for me.
