The Bryant Chucking Grinder Company was founded in 1909 by William LeRoy Bryant. In 1958 the company was purchased by the Ex-Cell-O Corporation where it operated as the Bryant Grinder Division of Ex-Cell-O. In 1986 Ex-Cell-O and its subsidiaries were purchased by Textron. In 1988 the Bryant Grinder group was sold to financial investment firm Goldman Group. In 2002 Bryant Grinder was purchased by Vermont Machine Tool where it has operated as a division since.
