I bought a large and ancient wood lathe over 25 years ago. I never had space or time to set it up, and I kept it stored under the lumber rack in my original shop (at my parents’ house) until earlier this year. I moved it into my current garage and assembled the parts. I posted information on this lathe last April when I was researching its history:

http://www.owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=181625&p=1253111#p1253111

A few facts about the lathe include:

• It is very heavy – proven by the fact that I had to move it earlier this year.
• The only identifying information appears to be on the grease cap, which is independent of the lathe itself.
• The bed is 8’ long and appears to be cast iron with a milled surface on the top.
• The legs are also cast and bolted to the bottom of the bed through tapped holes.
• It has a leather belt drive system which was adapted to be powered by an electric motor with a speed reducer and 3-step wheel to drive the leather belt.
• It includes several faceplates that range from ~1’ up to 4’ in diameter. These are designed to fit the outboard spindle. It also has a free-standing tool rest base to use with these faceplates.

Since I don’t see any manufacturer’s name on this lathe, I’m not sure if it was a one-off or the company name was omitted or wore off over time.

I have learned from my previous post that the outboard side of this lathe could have been used for pattern making. The 8’ bed would have also been good for large spindle turning.

I have attached several pictures of the lathe and accessories, but I apologize for the setting – my garage is full after cleaning out my original shop.

I honestly don't know what this is worth. I set the price relatively high, but I won't be offended by lower offers. Feel free to contact me or post any questions. Thanks.

Approximate Dimensions and Weight:
Length = 8'
Width = 2'
Height = 4'
Weight = 700 lbs

Comments:
The dimensions listed are for the assembled lathe. It would obviously be dismantled for shipping purposes.

The weight is a very rough guess, but I know that it is heavy - it took three of us to move the bed from my former shop to the truck and that was with a wheel attached to one end.

My preference is that someone picks it up locally or coordinates shipping. I have experience buying tools remotely and having them shipped, so I can coordinate and "pack" for fee if necessary.
