I am a volunteer at the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association machine shop museum. We have a donation of a New Haven lathe and we don't have the space to display them or store them so we are trying to sell them. We would like to sell them and have the buyer pick them up at the donator's location.
The lathe is a new Haven No. 6-1/2. I believe it is an 18" swing, based on literature of the time showing 18" as the smallest swing, and 6-1/2 feet between centers but I have not measured it personally. I can't find any literature for this exact model but it appears to be about 1880s vintage. Includes face plate, steady rest, a 3 jaw and 4 jaw chuck without jaws and a box of miscellaneous tooling. It would need a line shaft or have an electric motor added. If we get $500 for the lathe we will provide an electric motor and assist with loading. If you want to cobble together a variable speed setup with a manual car transmission there is one available of unknown origin sitting by the lathe that we could probably get added to the package. |
