The saw is a 27" direct drive Northfield, possibly born in 1939. It has the original, as far as I know, Louis Allis 2hp 3ph motor. The only thing I did when I got it home was finish taking it apart piece by piece, clean everything really well and put it back together. It probably has one extra layer of grey paint from long ago that is slowly wearing off over time. The upper guide was shot so I found one on ebay that I believe to be a Wright (it has a Wright thrust bearing but the body is a little different from the lower guide) and replaced it. Or I have a Carter CP-20 if you would rather have that. The lower guide is a Wright. The tires are cracked and probably should be replaced at some time but the blade tracks well when you turn the wheels by hand. I cleaned and repacked the upper wheel and motor bearings and everything turns nice and quietly. I have not run the saw with a blade installed but did run the motor after I put it back together and it runs smooth, quiet and cool. The only break/repair I found was the table tilt crank bracket that is apparently a week spot on these. It was welded back (before I got it) and the crank/tilt works smoothly. Need to sell so make me an offer. Thanks |
