This is a very accurate machine- I mounted an aluminum test bar between the 4 jaw and the tailstock. I took a few cuts to get the bar round, then took 3 light passes and measured both ends of the test bar 3 times. RESULTS: the lathe cut to within 5 tenths of a thou - 3 times in a row. the test cut was 17" long. See photo of test results.
I have never run this lathe before- i used the HSS tool that was mounted in the tool post. I didnt fuss or fiddle with anything- I spend a half an hour and got these results. The ways are in very good shape: this is an accurate machine for the money.
this machine is well equipped,
12" swing X 36 between centers, taper attachment, 3 chucks, steady and follow rests, 2 drill chucks w/ 3 MT for tailstock, face plate, dog plate, dogs, lantern tool post, many toolholders, knurling tool, a few 3 MT drill bits, tool bits, both HSS and carbide. Single phase power, forward/reverse switch, clutch & brake. A good package that we can load on your trailer, aprox. 1000 lbs.
