I have an Oliver 260D project machine that has been setting around in my storage for too long and needs to go to a more loving home.
This machine isn't in too bad of shape now and could be tuned up and run easily but cosmetically it could use a once over. It is one of the older machines (early 1940's) and has 5hp/240v/3ph GE motors that both work fine. The original electricals seem OK and it starts right up. It does have old cloth covered wire but it all seems to be in good shape. The motor brake is missing the one of the brake shoe and rod assemblies and doesn't activate. I can hear the contactor click in when the stop button is depressed but the solenoid for the brake doesn't fire at all.
The blade height and tilt controls have been loosened up and work OK. I've done a frame off resto of one of these before so I know it could move easier if the new owner was to give it the once over but it is certainly functional as is.
Rolling table move fine. Fence has one repair on the bolster that holds the main rod for the tilting face. There is also a braze repair on one of the ears of the small casting that the tilt screw pivots on. It seems to be a sound old repair.
The small extension table has several spots that look like factory filler of casting defects.
Comes with one miter gauge. It is cracked on the arc but doesn't affect operation.
All in all it is a survivor 83 year old saw that with some TLC could be a really fine addition to someone's shop. I have a forklift to load. I will not arrange shipping but could palletize and deliver to a local freight terminal for cost. |
