Oliver Patternmaker's vise. This is the last of several I have sold over the years that I bought at the closure auction of a local foundry. It has some old repairs so I have decreased the price accordingly. Includes the tilt bracket and the angle insert for the jaws.
I was keeping this one for my own use but have decided to sell instead as I doubt I will ever have a bench large enough or worthy enough to mount it on.
All of the dogs were made in my shop from 4140 steel. They are much stouter than the originals.
There are old repairs to the hinge bracket, one jaw, and the rotation collar that I have tried to show as clearly as possible. I did not have a hand in any of them but can say I took the vise off a patternmaker's bench after the auction and have always assumed it was used in the repaired condition for many years. I cleaned all the vises I had up and repainted them. |
