A reconditioned Duro Metal Products Model L-3018 10" Tilting Arbor Cabinet Saw, serial number 18-154-6, circa 1948, Chicago, Illinois. All-cast-iron construction. These were built to industrial tolerances.
Provenance — why this saw has Craftsman accessories: ?Duro Metal Products was an OEM manufacturer for Sears in this era. Sears sold complete packages through their catalog: the Duro-built cabinet saw paired with Craftsman-branded motor and accessories. The motor and miter gauge on this saw are not later add-ons — they are original to how this machine was sold and used. The Duro badge, serial number, and castings are all intact and original.
What's included — all of it: * Cast iron main table, miter slots, original throat plate * Add-on Cast iron right wing extension — a hard find; sourced separately * Spare steel wing extension as backup * Complete spare elevation screw assembly and hardware * Complete spare tilt screw assembly and hardware with original wheel key * Craftsman miter gauge — period correct, works properly * Original fence and rails — functional rip fence * Arbor wrench and push stick * Original Duro Metal Products Co. badge intact, serial 18-154-6
Note included in this sale are the spare parts plus the cast iron wing extension; these were sourced separately and cost $327 including shipping.
Motor:?Period Craftsman/Sears 3/4 HP capacitor motor, ball bearing, 3450 RPM, 115V, 9.3A, Type CYBK17 — original to the saw's working life. Rewired for proper internal grounding with power cord with vibration-isolated motor mounting.
Reconditioning work performed: * Full internal disassembly and cleaning * Dry PTFE lubricant applied to all sliding surfaces * Boeshield T-9 applied to elevation and tilt mechanisms * Elevation and tilt operate correctly through full range of motion * Cabinet repainted in correct flat black — clean and uniform * New power cord installed
It works as it should with video showing 2 nickels staying upright during power on, operation and power off cycle.
Honest disclosures — read before messaging: * Motor belt should be replaced as routine maintenance (~$12 part, 15 minutes) * New power cord is slightly short preventing full 45° tilt; recommend replacing the mounted switch with a modern safety paddle switch that includes an integrated cord extension — straightforward upgrade
Who this is for:?A general woodworker who wants an all-cast-iron American cabinet saw that will outlast a lifetime of use, or a vintage tool collector who wants a documented, complete example with rare original spare parts in-hand. This is not a shelf piece — it works and is ready to use. $475. Merrimack NH. Local pickup only. Cash.?Priced to reflect documented parts cost. Serious inquiries only |
