This company made a lightweight floor-model hollow-chisel mortiser. The mortiser is identical to a unit that was later sold by Woodworkers Tool Works of Chicago. Perhaps WTW bought the manufacturing rights from Kornau.

Information Sources

  • Thanks to webmaster Keith Rucker, who found an ad for this company in the April 1925 issue of Building Age and National Builder.
  • In a telephone conversation with the owner of Woodworkers Tool Works (before we knew of the existence of Kornau Machine Co.), he mentioned that they had made this mortiser.
  • Ad in January 1929 issue of Popular Mechanics, for their home workshop.
  • A search for patents granted or assigned to "Kornau" came up dry.
