In the 1890s and into the early 20th century, John Sutcliffe & Son of Arden Works, Halifax, made machinery for working wood and brass.

We learned of this maker when researching a Photo Index entry of a bandsaw in New Zealand of unknown make. The saw has a label, "Sole agent for New Zealand / N. Andrew / Wanganui". Searching for information on the agent produced an article article published 1902-11-19 in Farm Implements and Machinery that says Andrew was the sole distributor in the colony for John Sutcliffe & Sons (Ltd.)
