During the period of 1866-67, Johnson & Co. was manufacturing a patent taper lathe and a circular sawmill for cutting small stock such as handles, chair parts, or fence pickets.

Durkee's Automatic Sawing Machine. Warranted to saw small stuff from the log at the rate of 1,000 to 2,000 running feet per hour. Send for illustrated circulars.
