In 1907 the Fay Machine Tool Co. of Philadelphia was established, probably by Rimmon C. Fay. They primarily made automatic lathes and engine lathes. The company seems to have been short-lived and at least one of their lathe patents ended up in the hands of Jones & Lamson Co.

Information Sources

  • 1907-08-10 Philadelphia Inquirer: "Aug. 9. Charters were issued by the State Department today to the following corporations: ...Fay Machine Tool Company, Philadelphia, $50,000..."
  • A 1909 patent was granted to Rimmon C. Fay of Philadealphia and assigned to the Fay machine Tool Company of that city.
  • 1910-01-06 American Machinist lists Fay Machine Tool Co., Phila., as a maker of "Drilling Machines, Turret" and "Lathes, Automatic Screw Threading".
  • 1921 Lumber's Catalog of Mechanical Equipment and Supplies lists "Fay Machine Tool Co., 2d and Glenwood Ave., Philadelphia, Pa." as a maker of engine lathes. Note that these kinds of supplier catalogs were often very slow in removing defunct companies from their listings so this citation is not solid evidence of Fay Machine Tool Co. surviving into the 1920s.
