David Ashton founded this firm in about 1881 to manufacture Saw Grinding & Polishing Machinery. After Ashton died in 1903, the owners were Carl Davenport and Timothy Charles Good. In 1916 the firm became a private limited company and it was liquidated in 1931. Its last location was Aztec Works, Neepsend, Sheffield.
