1893 Aerial View, Waverly Ave. at Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Rwy.

The information about Walker Mfg. Co. of Cleveland came from their 1893 catalog, part III, which is on the Hathi Trust web site. They manufactured hydraulic shears, plate bending rolls, rotating flanging machines, hydraulic tube upsetting machines, a multiple horizontal hydraulic punch, hydraulic riveters, and gear cutting machines. Their other products included cable railroad machinery, gears and other power transmission machinery, hydraulic pumps, foundry equipment, hoists, traveling cranes, and machine shop racks and stands. Company officers in 1893 were J. B. Perkins, John Walker M. E., W. H. Bone M. E., and Z. M. Hubbell. Mr. Perkins was likely Jacob Bishop Perkins, a wealthy real estate owner with many business interests. Jacob B. Perkins was a founder of Hill Acme Co., which also made power transmission machinery in Cleveland.

From titles of archived newspaper articles, it appeared that the company was in financial straits by Nov. 22, 1897, when an article ran, titled Eastern Bankers Secure Control of the Walker Co. : Bought Out Perkins. An April 3, 1900 article titled Acquires Walker Plant : Big Manufacturing Establishment Becomes the Property of the... seemed to mark the end of the business.
