F. O'Brian & Co. Ltd., which in its later years was O'Brian Manufacturing, Ltd., made FOBCO heavy-duty drill presses, plus Star brand drill presses and mill-drills in both floor-standing and table-top models. Their machines changed little over the years but they earned a reputation for excellent quality.
F. O'Brian & Co. worked out of the Crown Engineering Works a town 8 km west of Burton-on-Trent in Derbyshire. The lathes.co.uk page on this firm says that they made drill presses for 40 years. A quick web search turned up data points spanning 1946 through 1988.
