Austin No. 3A, 1917

Austin was the manufacturer or patent-holder of a line of popular combination anvil and vises. Identified as Austin's or Austin Pattern, it appeared in hardware store catalogs from 1890 to 1924, originally as the No. 3, then No. 3A and No. 3C. It also appeared in price lists of standard items, but with no manufacturer given. Exhaustive research has not yet found any magazine advertising for these anvil-vises.

Catalog listings have been found for similar anvil-vises, not identified as Austin, by A. L. Swett Iron Works and Rock Island Manufacturing Co.
