Founded in 1874 as Joyce, Cridland & Co. to manufacture lifting jacks, by 1888 they also were making bench vises. In Nov., 1893, the business incorporated as the Joyce-Cridland Co. They were still making vises in 1899. The company name in 2019 is Joyce/Dayton Corp.
