1908
Leavens Manufacturing Co. was producing a line of "high grade amateur" vises in 1908. Its trade names were Jersey and Baker's Jersey. In late 1911, Stanley Rule & Level Co. (Stanley Works) purchased Leavens Manufacturing Co., closed the Vineland factory, and shipped its machinery, patterns, and stock of Jersey vises to New Britain, CT. Stanley also hired Mr. Philip J. Leavens to supervise its production of small bench vises.
