Beginning in the 1950s, Lloyd W. Kuhn, doing business as L. W. (Jack) Kuhn, was manufacturing the original quick-change wedge-type lathe tool posts and tool holders. A 1963 patent for this system was granted to Leonidas C. Miller and assigned to Kuhn. The business was later known as KDK Products, and then KDK Tools. Eventually the Kuhn family sold the business which located to Flagstaff. The business shut down in about 2010.
