Established in 1885 to provide solutions for the mining industry, In the 1940s the Stearns-Roger Manufacturing Co. manufactured turret lathes. We have also seen the name Stearns-Roger Engineering Corp. By 1987 Stearns-Roger, Inc. was a division of Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., of Denver.

  • 1942 issue of Screw Machine Engineering (vols 3-4 page 54): "Of vital importance to war production is the Denver 6R Universal Ram Type Turret Lathe first placed on the market a little over a year ago by The Stearns-Roger Manufacturing Company..."
  • A 1976 book, Proud Journey, the Story of Stearns-Roger. The First Ninety Years of Creative Service in Engineering, Construction and Manufacturing, by James M. Lane, reportedly provides a company history. We have not yet seen a copy of this book.
