The young engineer Heinrich Wehrhahn from Delmenhorst founded the Gebr. Wehrhahn Machine Factory
with his brother in 1892.
Electricity was not yet available to industry. Steam engines, water mills and windmills powered the
first machines developed by Wehrhahn via transmission systems. These included brick-making machines, sawmills, and grain mills.
In 1918, Carl Wehrhahn - the founder’s son — joins the company as a partner after completing his
engineering studies. Wehrhahn begins to specialize more and more in sawmill and brick-making machinery.
Starting in 1936, Wehrhahn's focus switches more towards industry plants for fiber cement and aerated concrete blocks and is today one of the world's leading manufactuers for this kind of plants.
