This early machine tool maker made drill presses. A. K. A. Hartson's Machine Shop, they also made metalworking lathes & metal planers

  • Seventh Annual Report of the American Institute, including the results of the 1848 Fair: Geo. B. Hartson, 42 Gold-street, for the best slide lathes, (large size), Silver medal. For a drilling machine, Diploma.
  • 1855 Report of Judges on Machinery, Etc., at the 27th Annual Fair of the American Institute. "No. 1504—Turning Lathe. G. B. Hartson & Co., West 33d and 34th streets. This is a strong, well-proportioned and well-finished lathe, with heavy compound rest. A silver medal awarded."
