According to their trademark filing, this company made "Servess" brand products, including woodworking machinery. In fact, they were a hardware wholesaler that was owned by a group of hardware retailers. The Servess name was apparently first used in 1938. Walter H. Allen Co. was acquired in 1966 by J. M. Cotter & Co.

Information Sources

As yet we have no reports of Servess-branded woodworking machinery. We have a report of a Servess level, and we have seen auction listings for screwdrivers and garden tillers.
A patent search did not reveal any references to Walter H. Allen Co. or Servess.
Information on the acquisition by Cotter came from a PDF file on the American National Business Hall of Fame site giving the history of J. M. Cotter.
