      Afer William Lodge left Lodge & Davis he joined up with Murray Shipley to form this company in 1892. It was originally named the Ohio Machine Works , was reorganized 6 months later as the Lodge & Shipley Machine Tool Co. The firm is known for their high quality and often very large lathes. Some Machinists refer to them affectionately as "Large & Shapely".¬† The company was liquidated and ceased operations¬† in 1987.

      Monarch Lathes purchased the rights to the lathes built by Lodge and Shipley. They still make parts and rebuild existing lathes and can be contacted at:
