The Ohio Machine Tool Co. was founded in 1897 as a successor to the Smith & Silk Machine Tool Co. by William D. Smith. He sold the business in 1911 to Walter D. Sayle.
There also appears to be a relationship between the Swift Ohio Corp. and Ohio Machine Tool Co. The Ohio Swift Co. was founded by Alexander Swift in the 1850's as a manufacturer of heavy industrial equipment, including boring mills. At some unknown point Swift merged with Ohio Tool Co.
