The Waltham Machine Works was formed in 1898 as a partnership between Edmund L. Sanderson and Benjaamin F. Ellis. In 1902, they acquired the property, product lines and goodwill of the Alcorn Machine Co., formerly Alcorn & Ames. For some decades, the Waltham Machine Works made lathes, thread milling machines and cutter grinders.
