This firm was established by W. H. Roach and Emil Von Wyck as the Roach & Von Wyck Machine Tool Company in 1901; Roach had been a superintendant at R. K. LeBlond Machine Tool Co. Roach left the partnership within a year or so, and in 1903 the name changed to Von Wyck Machine Tool Company. In 1912, Von Wyck committed suicide in his office on his 47th birthday. The company was acquired later that year by C. P. Kern, late of the Kern Machine Tool Company. In 1915 the Van Wyck company's assets were acquired by the Cisco Machine Tool Co. An exception were the lathe patterns themselves, which were acquired by none other than the Kern Machine Tool Co.
