Established in 1955, Beloit Tool Corporation made cutting tools and gear boxes. The name changed to Regal-Beloit Corp. in 1969. In 1980 they got new management, who aggressively pursued a strategy of consolidating all American electric motor manufacturers. The following list includes those motor manufacturers of interest to us, i.e., those in U.S.A., Canada and the U.K.

  • 1997: Marathon, Inc.
  • 1999: Lincoln Electric Corp.
  • 2000: Leeson Electric Corp.
  • 2004-2005: GE's air conditioning and HVAC motor businesses.
  • 2007: Morrill Motors, Inc., of Erwin, TN (fractional horsepower motors for commercial refrigeration).
  • 2010-2011: A.O. Smith Corp.'s electric motor division, Electric Products Co.
  • 2013: RAM Industries division of Schneider Electric (250 to 2500 HP HVAC motors)
