According to their trademark filing, the company began in 1919, and made machine tools and accessories. In the late 1940s or early 1950s, Stamets purchased The Enterprise Co. The Enterprise Division of the Stamets Company purchased most of the Crescent line of tools from Rockwell in the 1950's.

According to a 1969 letterhead for Wm. K. Stamets Company, they were manufacturers of Pipe Mill and Special Machinery, the "Enterprise" line of Sawmill Equipment, and the "Crescent" line of Woodworking Machines.

It appears that Stamets was at some point bought out or somehow became Jefco Industries, which has since become J.E.S. Technologies: both of which are also located in Columbiana, OH, and all have been identified as suppliers of Crescent parts. See also Northeast Ohio Machine Builders, Inc.

Sometime in 2005, the company once again changed names and/or merged with Alloy Machining. Interestingly, Jeffco, J.E.S. and Alloy Machining all have had the same address in Columbiana, OH indicating that they only changed names.

Alloy Machining has had some limited parts and manuals for Crescent machinery. They can be contacted at:
