Here is a rather rare piece of southern history. before you is a South Carolina Interstate
and West Indies Exposition medal minted for the event held in 1901-2. This 32mm medal was
awarded to Lane Manufacturing from Montpelier, Va, USA, for saw mill and woodworking
machinery. These medals are rare and unique works of art, and I have sold mint issues of
larger versions for four figures. Unfortunately this example has some corrosion and spots
around the gilt over the bronze and a few insignificant dings, hence the relatively low
opener. Very fine for wear. A chance to own a rare piece at a blue collar bid." |
