I bought this machine off Craigslist from a machinist who buys and sells mostly metal working machines. He happened to have this wood lathe.
I really like the heavy base. I would like to try to find an outboard tool rest. The Walker Turner Service in CT does still maufactures the outboard face plates, but not the tool rest (the one that bolts to the side of the base)
I did add a bed extension up to five feet, when I got a commission to make a set of six shaker ladder-back chairs, with back posts of 42 to 48 inches tall. See pics below.
Any suggestions for also finding original bed tool rests?
