I wanted a small bandsaw dedicated to fine cutting in order to avoid the frequent blade and set-up changeovers on my 14" saw. I purchased this saw from another OWWMer who had begun disassembly and restoration. It appeared in a 1938 full line Craftsman catalog that is found in the Publications Reprints section here. There is no manual or parts list for this exact saw; the closest appears to be for model 2304 which has hinged guards rather than the removable ones.

I completed disassembly, finished cleaning, painted the components, and reassembled the saw. New tires are on order; however, even with the worn (original?) tires, the saw runs quietly and smoothly. The belt is new, (drive arrangement still needs an appropriate guard!), as are the phenolic guide blocks. The guide bearings are worn and need to be replaced. The motor is an old Dunlap 1/3 hp which runs very well.

The paint is Rustoleum Painters Touch Navy Blue, a pretty good match for the original color. The original Craftsman paper label which was on the top curved face of the upper guard was too far gone for the effort that would have been required to save it, so I'm looking for a replacement.

The large SKF Bearings medallion serving as the retaining plate for the upper wheel is pretty neat.

In the second photo, just below the blade tension adjustment assembly, is a 1" thick riser block which a previous owner installed to enable use of widely available 80" blades. The original blades for the saw were 78", available today on a special order basis.
