Wile shopping CL last week i came across this Delta planer 1 1/2 hr drive away. He had it listed for $250. i emailed wright then and the next day i was the first one he called back on it and i told him i would take it. I did not know much about these but i knew enough to know that it was a fair price. From looking at the others on OWWM , i did ask him about the worm gear, like i really knew what i was talking about. He told me that everything was all original and the worm gear was nice shape, but the cutter head right side bearing was bad. He was wright, worm gear looks good and the bearing on the right is missing some balls. I think if the left bearing would of went out it would of trashed the worm gear.It has a 2 hp 1pH motor. I am looking forward to tearing into this one. Last month i picked up a bellsaw 12 planer that i got from CL that needed some machining and some new bearing to get running, but i cant really compare the two. I see on the OWWM sight that one made in 1965 still had Delta tag. This one has a Rockwell tag. Can anyone tell me if 1966 was the first year with the Rockwell tag?
