It was used in some sort of manufacturing facility in southern Vermont. I purchased it from a person who had worked in the Co., who lived in Grand Isle, VT. The unit was total rust and corrosion top to bottom, would not run, nor would the blade controls work. I saw its worth, and bought it for $100. It had to be taken apart before I could load it into my truck, since it weighed around 400#. I bought it around 2002, and had to totally dismantle it and clean all of the parts, and paint, or lubricate them. The blade shaft was perfect as was. The original motor was 3 phase, so I replaced it with a 1 ph/3 hp/220v motor. The entire blade control unit (gimble ?) is pinned to the main cast iron table so there is no adjustment possible, or needed, for blade alignment to the miter track. The entire cabinet is cast iron. The belt adjustment is done via 2 long bars that mount the motor plate. The motor unit slides in and out on these bars, and a bolt secures the adjustment once set. I also had to replace the original casters so that the saw could be mover about more easily. I also made a Biesemeyer (like) Fence to replace the original fence which had to much play for my work.

I am totally pleased with this unit and its abilities to do fine work.

My one problem with it is the blade beveling adjustment, which I don't consider to be accurate. I therefore avoid it as much as possible, and have the blade locked securly at exactly 90 degrees to the bed. If necessary I use a digital angle gauge to set a bevel cut when absolutely required.
