This is my second restored Unisaw, completed ca. 2007 but just now being entered into the Photo Gallery. It had been used for more than 40 years in a commercial operation where the original motor literally had been worn out. The commutator was approximately one half the normal diameter and appeared burned. Since I already owned a Unisaw with period motor I elected to purchase a new Leeson 3hp motor for this saw. The cabinet and table were a bit rusty but not bad. There was no fence or miter gauge, but long Biesemeyer front and rear rails were present. I purchased a Biesemeyer fence and built a new side extension table. The dust door was missing the knob and the Delta label. A replacement knob had been acquired as of the time of the photo, but the Delta label plate had not been located as yet. The wedge lock pin was missing from the elevation handwheel tube, and, after months of searching for the real thing I had one made by a machinist. I use this saw with a shop made overhead guard, shown in Photo 3. As noted under Photo 2, I did choose to enlarge the oval motor opening to accommodate the modern motor. The motor cover shown in Photo 1 is made of plywood and has an access door. Nothing original but all very functional in a saw that's much more a user than a collector's item.

This '48 Unisaw is set up back to back with my '43. They share an outfeed table. Like the other Unisaw, this one runs very smoothly and is a pleasure to use.
