This Unisaw was given to me by a good friend when he had to move across country. The saw was very complete, with the original 110v bullet motor (not working) and a cast iron goose egg. I was missing the blade nut, outer washer, dust door tag, and the miter gauge. Lucky for me, now a days, these are simple things to locate! (The Saw Center in Springfield, Mass) I tried a few things to get the motor up and running, but I think it needs some work on the shorting ring, and will be expensive to fix. For now, I modified a 1950's Craftsman 1hp motor with new brackets carefully welded to the motor in order to allow it to work perfectly within the goose-egg. The saw was in very good condition, so I did not strip the entire saw apart, but just a quick refurb. The cabinet was stripped to bare steel and repainted in a darker gray (Massey Ferguson gray) I also sandblasted the underside of the top to repaint it while I was at it. The fence rail's were polished on my lathe using a wire wheel grinder and onward to sandpaper. The top was cleaned with scotch-brite pads on a DA sander and some oil. The saw works wonderful with the new (borrowed) motor, and all that is left is to weld up a custom mobile base for it to sit on.

Comments: Yes, an honest to goodness, unmolested base! No dents, holes, or hack's to be found!

Comments: Here is a view of how bad the rails were, and the top after cleaning. You can see the four holes from a power feeder that had been bolted to the top.

Comments: Here is the saw pretty much all finished. One handwheel was being painted still, but other than that, it was done.

Comments: An undershot to show off the painted table top that you will never see! I am not 100% sold on the black two-tone on the base, but I want to see it on a mobile base painted in the same black. I hope that the base will flow with the saw better like this.
