Comments:
This Wood/Metal spinning lathe was made by the Diamond Emery Wheel & Machine Company, Prov. RI. the tailstock indicates
patented march 31 1889, for the tailstock which is a one of a kind lathe tailstock. The lathe was found in Eureka Montana, in the upper north western part of the state 15 miles form the Canada border, in Sept 2011. A retired school supt. decided to sale it after 40 years of walking around it and moving it from Washington State after his father gifted the lathe to him. The lathe was located in Killdeer North Dakota with his father, who bought it from another retired man in Manning North Dakota 1950's. The lathe is now located in Rapid City South Dakota where I have cleaned up the many years of grease and dirt so that I can use it for wood turning and make an attempt to learn metal spinning before I retire from teaching shop. The lathe works good, It had a make shif small electric motor mounted on the back side, and used a small V-belt.
