Comments:
I have a 26 inch Crescent Band Saw of the 1903 style. The serial number is 3986. The serial number is in at least 3 places: on the end of the upper wheel shaft, on the end of the upper wheel shaft collar, and on the 2 bolts holding the tilt yolk to the table (39 on one bolt head, and 86 on the other bolt head).

Unfortunately, the wooden blade cover covers over the "Crescent" name in the casting. You will note that the saw is mounted on channel iron. 2" fixed steel casters hold the channel about 1/2" off the floor. The bottom of the band saw feet are not milled flat, so I ended up grouting the feet to the channel. I bought the saw in an estate sale in about 1979. At that time, it had both flat belt pulleys and the belt shifter. In the ignorance of youth, I discarded those. The saw was completely dismantled, cleaned, painted, and all the Babbitt bearings recast. I have found no patent numbers or dates of any kind on the saw. As you can see, I made a reduction system so that I could cut wood or metal.
