>>MACHINE<<
Vindex hand crank grinder from National Sewing Machine's home shop machinery line.
Simple single speed gear reduction drive, with plain bearings and a 5/16" reverse thread arbor.
The body is cast iron and the tool rest is stamped steel.
Small oil holes are located at the arbor and crank shafts.
The grinding wheel is 5" x 1", with a fairly soft bond (I suspect this wheel is not original because the nut doesn't completely thread onto the arbor and the tool rest doesn't clear in the lower position).
I believe the original wheel size is 4" x ¾".
The arbor flanges are small flat washers (not sure if they are original).

>>HISTORY<<
January 2005:
I purchased this grinder at the Royal Oak Michigan ReTool. No further info is known.
Lubricated with SAE30 in the two oiling holes.

June 2020:
Changed the ¼"-20 tool rest round head machine screw to a carriage bolt and added a washer on the nut side.
The tool rest is now easier to adjust and lock the setting with a box wrench.
