Hello, I am not an expert. We recently inherited this wonderful "work of art" from CB Rogers and I'm wondering how old it is, how rare it is (if at all), and so fourth. I was told this is a "shuttermaker" though the badge reads "For sash blinds & doors." {{Note: I am updating this entry because a member kindly wrote me to explain this is a Mortiser."}}

This device was clearly used quite a bit but seems to still be in working order - you can still operate the foot pedal or pull the top lever (which attaches to the ceiling via a leather band). If we have the room this may just go in our living room because it is so beautiful. A local museum is also interested in it. Any comments or feedback welcome. thank you!
