Comments:
This machine was sold to the Hershey Corporation for the Oakville, CA plant which opened in 1968. Interesting that the date on the plate is 1963, but the manual which is a xerox copy, has a date on it of Sept. 1, 1967. Dating seems difficult after Leland-Gifford acquired Rivett around 1962-1963. This lathe has a taper attachment, steady rest, 10-1/2" dog plate, 12" face plate, 8" 3-jaw, Aloris toolpost and holders (an Accessory from Aloris in 1963), accumulator dial (outer dial is thousands of a diameter, inner dial is in 64ths), 2 collets shy of a full set of 6R collets in 64ths from 1/32"-1-1/8", collet closer lever, etc...I also got a workbench with the tooling inside, and some Monarch 10EE tooling which I sold to a friend. Hershey closed their Oakville, CA plant in 2008 and the equipment movers bought the lathe to keep for themselves. They had it for about 4 years and decided to sell it as they hadn't used it.
