Comments:
When I got this sander it was immediately obvious that it was badly abused. I pulled it apart and discovered that it had been run with frozen bearings for many hours, and the main shaft was seriously galled. The bearings had been subsequently replaced, but since the shaft was loose, it only made the galling worse. I turned a new shaft and replaced the bearings and now it runs fine.

I like the fact that the table can be swapped from the disc to the belt. I bought it for the belt sander and probably will use the disc only rarely.

As soon as I got it running, though, it reminded me of why I like industrial machines made completely from cast iron: the sheet metal base vibrates with a very loud roar, which means I have to wear ear protection to run the thing.
