Comments:
This lathe was originally bought in 1950 by a man in Wisconsin. Upon receiving it from Sears he decided it was too small for what he wanted, but didn't send it back. He left it in its crate and stored it in a restored Model A Ford he owned. Sometime after 2000 another man bought the Model A Ford either from the
first man (by then very aged) or bought it from his estate or family. When the second man got the car home and opened it up he found the lathe still in its crate after 50 plus years. He decided after a few years he didn't have a need for it so he put it up for sale. That was when i bought it in 2010. A High School robotics team i mentor for had need of a small lathe the students could use and i bought it for that reason. At first i kept it and let them use it, but later sold it to them, but retain a option to buy it back in the future if i want. Its only been used a few times so far. It had stayed in its crate for over 50 years and had never been in any sunlight all that time and all paint is original. It still had its preservative and i had a heck of a time removing 50 plus year old preservative from it and freeing it up, but now it runs fine. Some of the dark spots you see in the pictures is a little of the preservative still on it. It was still bolted down in the crate when i got it and had never been out of the crate. See the other page for crate and paper pictures.
