Comments:
I acquired this saw near Greensboro, NC. I was in the process of restoring an identical saw when I found a crack on one of the wheels. I picked this machine up for the parts but discovered it to be in much better shape than my first one.
It has the original 1 hp single phase motor. The seller recently bought it for $100 from the widow of a man who worked for the Carson Furniture Company. He apparently brought this saw home with him in the 1950's for his personal shop. From the overall appearance, the machine saw limited use. Unlike the first saw, the brake pad shows almost no wear. It was brush-painted a tan color at some point. It has an early Square D manual motor starter which works, though the start button must have been lost and was replaced with a wooden dowel. It did cut and tracked well when tested. I planned to replace the bearings and tires and upgrade to a 1.5 Hp single phase motor down the line.
