Comments:
After acquiring this saw from a friend who thought it would "fit your old shop", my initial plan was to convert it to a flat belt driven machine. Since everything in the drive train was complete and true to the period (1920"s) - including the motor, I decided to leave well enough alone and let this machine demonstrate another phase in the evolution of machine power. It's pretty much the way it was taken out of service from the Kindel Furniture Company in Grand Rapids, MI (last used in the 1980's). Paint and general condition were left as is (I did some cleaning-up where parts that shouldn't have painted where at one time painted over). An interesting thing is the "Kindel" badge that they apparently had specially cast - quite a nice variation on the stamped ID tags on machines of today.
