I ended up with this saw when a coworker asked if I wanted it. Her husband passed away from cancer a couple of years ago and she was getting around to clearing out his stuff. I was happy to take the band saw and a little Bellsaw belt sander, while at the same time QUITE a bit somber from the circumstance. Both were sitting out in the AZ sun and monsoon rain for the past 2 years. My brother and I headed over to her house and tried time and again to offer her something for them - NO was the answer each and every time. After getting them home I had roughly a week to get the saw up and running. The table was very rusted and the bronze bushings on the saw and motor had not been oiled in at least 2 years. (Edit to fix bearing ID error - thanks Jeff! :))

I did a complete tear down and repainted everything with matching colors. The saw and motor drank about 1/2 a cup of oil before they were content (thanks to an OWWM member for the much needed help!). After rewiring and adding the switch I finally got to test it out. The OLD blade and saw left a cleaner cut than my newer Delta! The motor might need a rebuild as it has a hard time starting. Just wants a little help. I believe it's a repulsion induction motor - will have to read up on it here.

Note the white covers on the saw (wish I'd got a better pic) they are stamped with REGULAR and when rotated, expose an oil hole for the bushings. One other interesting note. The model number was listed as 103.24550, manufactured by King Seeley, the name plate reads Simpson Sears Limited of Canada. Must have been a long trip for this saw!

I gave it to my father for a nice father's day gift. It's now resting in his garage until he retires next year. Then it will be put to good use.
