The previous owner is a retired machinist, I had a nice short visit looking at his 24" homemade 2-speed, 3-wheeled bandsaw - worked great. He also had a 1960's 10" RAS, and in addition to other homemade power hacksaws, etc - a monster Sipp 'sensitive drill' - appears to be a 16" production DP similar to what Eric Clayton posted on vmdotorg.

The PO bought the machine several years ago, sans motor. He bought a new 1 HP motor from Sears, replaced the bearings, sharpened the blades, put on a new belt, and it mostly sat. He did build a dust-collection port for the planer. Was getting rid of tools he really didn't use much.

After I hauled it up the stairs ( thankful that the head comes off the post), I slid home with it, glad to have the extra ballast in the truck. It runs fine, is all there, and in Plug 'n Play condition. The Power Bronze appears to be worn, but original, and there is a thin layer of 'patina' on the table to scrape off. Once the weather gets warm this spring, a good candidate for a repaint.

Of course my spouse asked me if this was about the last machine I needed for my shop... at least it will be the last Alien planer I should need!
