Found this "Oliver" 194-1 Mortising machine on (Ebay and was simultaneously offered on Craigslist Chicago) Sunday morning. I immediately purchased it when I saw it, it was offered buy it now. I was told by the PO that several people were trying to organize a pick up time to get it, so I feel very fortunate to have this machine. PRICE WAS VERY FAIR! Thank you to the PO for "honoring the contract" as he stated. According to this great site, the serial number 0f 38135 puts this machines birth early in 1930. THIS MACHINE IS IN AMAZING CONDITION!! No rust, everything original and moves smoothly. I really like the quick adjust height and the side to side table movement. Table also tilts to accommodate angles. Wired 110, has the original GE motor and switch. Will repaint base and various parts when winter finally decides to subside and let all of us live out normal lives. Enough winter 2014!!!!!!! This is my first Oliver machine and am really excited to have this as I will be using this on almost every one of my jobs!!!

This is a BRACKETT mortiser originally made in madison wisconsin: bought out by Oliver. These are rare machines and rarely seen because they are rare...

This machine was ordered for a school in Harrisburg Illinois (way south and a little east) in 1930.
